Blockenspiel is a technique in the Dragon Quest series. Allows the user to attack at reduced damage while holding a defensive stance and halving his or her own damage.

Appearances[edit | edit source]

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined[edit | edit source]

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit | edit source]

This ability is learned with 6 skill points allocated into Shield skill. Damage dealt is half that of a normal attack, and requires 4 MP to use.

Dragon Quest X [edit | edit source]

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit | edit source]

Hendrik will learn the skill for 9 points in his shield path. It cost 3 MP to perform and works as it did in the previous appearance.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit | edit source]

The Hero's forward-tilt attack resembles blockenspiel, being a shield bash followed up with a sword slash. The first hit deals 5% damage and can block attacks, and the second hit deals 8% damage.
