DLC Tablet
The DLC Tablets, known officially as Special Traveller's Tablets[1] and in Japan as StreetPass Tablets (すれちがい石版,, Surechigai sekiban?) are downloadable tablets present in the Nintendo 3DS Version of Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past.
Details[edit | edit source]
Like the traveller's tablets, the DLC tablets contain particular monsters, bosses, as well as items such as gold coins (ranging from 1 to 500), antidotal herbs, bunny tails, phials of magic water, medicinal herbs, Pilchard pie, single phials, shellmets, or strong medicine.
Each tablet, upon being downloaded, includes an additional town resident who, unlike the main story NPCs, can be removed. Additionally, some of the tablets include monsters and reward items from other games in the series which weren't originally present in Dragon Quest VII.
As with custom made tablets, the ones available through Download are without a Level Cap, making some potentially useful for vocation grinding.
Discontinuation of 3DS online services[edit | edit source]
Nintendo discontinued the online service for its 3DS and Wii U hardware on April 8th, 2024. This would have meant that the DLC tablets would be lost to the digital aether, but a fan going by the name of Gronya was determined to prevent this from happening. Thanks to her exemplary dedication and more than 300 hours of effort, the DLC tablets are now preserved on archive.org for posterity and are freely accessible to anyone.
Available tablets[edit | edit source]
Standard tablets[edit | edit source]
(The monsters in bold weren't in the original Sony PlayStation Version.)
The list of DLC tablets is arranged by official order.
For making it easy to be recognized, Japanese name of DLC tablets is added.
Story-focused tablets[edit | edit source]
On top of the combat-focused tablets, there are three more tablets that contain additional scenarios. These new scenes might contain spoilers for the rest of the game.
Archival[edit | edit source]
As Nintendo announced the closure of their 3DS servers, Dragon Quest fan Gronya set out to preserve the DQVII DLC tablets. She successed, and on April 5th, 2024, she uploaded them to the Internet Archive.
