Muster Strength is an ability in the series.

Characteristics edit

The skill first appeared as an enemy-only skill in Dragon Quest IV. It builds up energy for the next attack, dealing 200%~250% damage on their next attack. This attack can still miss the target, however, unlike the stronger version of this skill called Focus Strength (note this doesn't apply to Dragon Quest V, where the two abilities are identical aside from their name).

Appearances edit

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake edit

Muster Strength can be learned by Merchants at level 9 if their Wisdom exceeds 39. It costs 3 MP to use and increases the next attack by 200~250%, stacking with Oomph or the War drum but not with Egg On.

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen edit

Muster Strength is an enemy-only skill used by Mad mole, Tricksy, Abominable showman, Bagworm, Hellion, Estark, and Chow Mein.

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride edit

Muster Strength is used by monster companions such as the Golem.

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation edit

Muster Strength is learned by Kingsley at Level 5. Other characters can obtain it by advancing to rank 2 as a Merchant. It is used by the enemies loathsome leek, haardvark, scarewell, Second Test, Bigg, tower sentry, jackal ripper, stout troll, and Cabot.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past edit

Muster Strength can be learned by reaching rank 5 as a Thief, rank 4 as a Rockbomb, and rank 2 as a Golem. On the enemy side, it can be used by Stone golem, Gold golem, Collum o' golem, Night knight, Glowering Inferno, Harmour, Damned well, Half hog, Whole hog, Hell hog, Splatterhorn, Enormoose, Ginormoose, Moostapha, and Setesh the Punisher.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age edit

Muster Strength returns as an enemy-only skill. It can be used by Golems and their palette swaps.

Dragon Quest Monsters edit

Known as ChargeUp in this game, it can be learned by various monsters. It requires the monster to be at least Level 14, with at least 98 max HP and 84 DEF. It is naturally learned by the Almiraj, Bullbird, FangSlime, Gigantes, Gohopper, Golem, HammerMan, MadGopher, Oniono and Skullroo.

Dragon Quest Monsters 2 edit

The requirements to learn ChargeUp are unchanged. It is naturally learned by the beavern, Darck, evilwell, pearlgel and protoMech among others. The madgopher no longer naturally learns this ability.

Torneko: The Last Hope edit

ChargeUp appears as a sword skill for Torneko that can be learned with various weapons. It can also be used by certain monsters such as Hammerhoods, Brownies, and Trolls.

Dragon Quest: Shōnen Yangus to Fushigi no Dungeon edit

Muster Strength appears as a special skill that is known by default by various monsters, such as Archdemon, Moosifer, and Mad mole, and can also be learned by Rockbomb at Level 5 and Cyclops at Level 16.

Dragon Quest Tact edit

Muster Strength is known naturally by Bullion, Grinade, Hym, Jackal ripper, Shogum, and Spiked club at level 1, costing 16 MP to use. When used, it increases the user's physical potency and recovery by 50% for 1 turn.

Heavy hood and Maulrus can learn the awakening perk Rare Muster Strength, which gives them a 20% chance to activate Muster Strength at the start of each action. Golem can learn the perk Sporadic Muster Strength through Talent Blossoming, which gives it a 40% chance to activate Muster Strength at the start of each action, while Bewarewolf can learn Instant Muster Strength, which activates Muster Strength at the start of each battle.

Dragon Quest Treasures edit

Muster Strength costs 5 MP to use and lasts for a brief period of time instead of just one attack. It can be known by Glacial golems, Golden goliaths, Golems, Great sabrecats, Grotty hands, King she-slimes, Magmantes, and Slimes.
